<strong>Book Tasting Fun</strong>
This year in English Language Arts (ELA) the 6th grade students participated in a book tasting activity that exposed them to literature they may wish to read throughout the year. The students “taste tested” seven different genres of literature to get them excited about independent reading. They rotated through stations to experience a genre and collect their thoughts on their book tasting menus.
By the end of the tasting, students had a good understanding of what genres they are interested in and left with one book that they would like to read independently. Then, they set reading goals by creating their own book challenge for the year. By the end of this month, they will report on this first novel they read, by creating a commercial to ”sell” their book to the audience!
