Fifth Grade Engineers

Fifth grade science dives into the process by which technology is developed and improved. During the engineering process students discover a problem, research ways they can solve that problem, and then plan, build and test their proposed solution.  The final step is to then communicate the results of their work.  

Students worked in groups to design and build bridges out of popsicle sticks to span a gap of 14”.  Bridges must have a drivable road and hold 10 pounds for thirty seconds. Most groups were successful in meeting these objectives with the strongest bridge holding 60 pounds!  

This fun and exciting project allows students to develop their ability to problem solve, work together and be createive, all while having fun in the classroom.
