Family STEAM Night 2022
One night in May, families came together in the STEAM corridor at St. John’s to participate in a family STEAM Night. There were three types of activities everyone could participate which were spread around ten separate stations. Students and families tried their luck at robotics by running a virtual pizza store with Osmo, making a functioning robot with Cubelets and hitting a soccer ball into a goal using a Sphero.
Things got messy in the make-and-take area as participants created bouncy balls from Borax, cornstarch and glue and floam slime. Also, students made a lightning bug light up using a paper circuit and constructed a robot that would create original pieces of art. In the gaming area, families tried to “break out to summer” by solving a Breakout EDU, play Bloxel video games made by St. John’s students, and tried their luck at coding using Blockly language. All in all, the first STEAM night was a huge success with tons of fun and learning!!
