Building a Community Centered Around Christ

Each school year brings a new beginning—new faces, new classes, many changes, and experiences.  A part of what will result in a successful year is the ability for students to work together and become a community—a family in Christ.  In Romans 12:4-5, Paul explains how God creates each person unique, with their own gifts and talents and wants people to be a community in Christ where everyone has a sense of belonging. 

Eighth grade students have been busy doing various tasks to set the groundwork for creating a community in Christ.  Some of the activities they have participated in include play-doh symbolism, team pen, polar bear dice problem solving game, Frayer a friend interviews, affirmation bingo, wellness Wednesdays, collaboratively writing and leading chapel worship services, etc. With Christ as the anchor, students will be able to navigate the ups and downs in their lives throughout the school year leaning on each other and respect each other’s similarities and differences knowing that in the heart of them all shines Jesus.
