Annual 8th Grade East Coast Field Trip

Our 8th-graders spent the first week in May touring Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Manhattan, New York. This trip was aimed to foster a deeper appreciation for American history and culture.

The journey began in Washington, DC. We had guided tours that led them through historical sites such as the Washington Mall, Mount Vernon, and the Smithsonian Museums. Our 8th graders had the incredible opportunity to meet Congresswoman Young Kim and Rev. Dr. Greg Seltz inside the Capitol. 

Congresswoman Kim shared her inspiring journey and the importance of civic engagement, encouraging our students to be active and informed citizens. 

Rev. Dr. Gregory Seltz added valuable insights on leadership and the role of faith in public service. He discussed the First Amendment and that freedom of religion is the first right mentioned. He interviewed some students for his Lutheran Hour Radio broadcast.

Then, the students went to a Mets and Cubs game at Citifield, and some of our students got on the jumbotron.

9/11 Memorial & Museum 

We went on the One World Trade Center elevator ride to see speculator views of New York, and then visited the museum and memorial pools.
