7th Grade World History - Exploring Our Heritage, Traditions, Hobbies, and Faith

In World History, 7th graders learn how social and cultural influences define various social classes during medieval times including the rise and fall of dynasties, monarchies, and empires. They transferred this knowledge to their own lives today by examining their personal cultures, traditions, faith, and hobbies. Each student was given the task of looking at their family heritage and creating a family tree. They explored how their family heritage may play a role in who they are today. The students also identified family traditions they take part in, what hobbies they enjoy, and took a close look at what their faith means to them personally. Using this information, the students created a Family Shield which exhibited their own uniqueness using these four categories. Lastly, the students wrote a short essay explaining about their culture, traditions, hobbies, and faith. The students rose to the challenge and created beautiful shields and interesting essays. A few thoughts left by the students as they worked through this project…

“I can't wait to learn more in deeper conversations with my family.”
