5th Grade Overnight Field Trip to Riley’s Farm, 2025

Our 5th graders experienced an overnight immersion into colonial life just before the Revolutionary War. Students participated in cultural pieces like weaving, candle-making, etiquette lessons, quill and ink writing, and historical experiences like the Quartering Acts, the Stamp Act, unfair/biased judicial procedures, and soldiering/drilling. We enjoyed a delicious dinner feast in the Tavern and heard from Patrick Henry as he gave his famous “Give me Liberty” speech. We appreciated the beauty of the Oak Glen hillside on a morning hike, which included an epic battle fought so valiantly by our students. There was a lot to enjoy together, and lasting memories were made!
