Native American Studies in 3rd Grade
In social studies, my third graders have been reading about different Native American tribes. To help them remember what they learned, we did a group activity in class. I split the class into small groups, and each group focused on one tribe. Together, they wrote and drew what their tribe ate, what kinds of homes they lived in, and what their environment was like. Some groups drew the homes their tribe built, while others labeled the foods and resources that came from the land around them....

L is for Lemonade
Lemons and limes made the letter L unforgettable in our PreK classrooms during Letter L Week this month. Children tasted, compared, and recorded their opinions on the fruits and the lemonade, practicing observation and graphing skills useful in Kindergarten math and science.
