The Executive Branch - 4th Grade!

This past week, the students in Mrs. Morner’s 4^th grade class worked together to imitate our country’s executive branch.  After reading a story in ELA about voting, the students were excited about the idea of being able to create and pass laws in our own classroom!   The students came up with creative ideas for bills that they felt would benefit the class or school, and had the challenge of formally presenting it to their peers (Congress), debating the content of the bill, getting a majority of votes in the House and the Senate, and then, hopefully, getting it all the way to the President’s desk (Mrs. Morner’s).  In one case, a bill was even brought before the Supreme Court (Dr. Hollatz)!  It was fun to see how seriously the students took their law-making efforts, and to be able to make a government system that impacts us every day feel a little more real.
