Striving to be Servant Leaders

Eighth Graders can learn servant leadership from the master Himself, Jesus.  In the gospel of John 13:1-17, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet illustrating what it means to have a servant attitude.  By doing that, Jesus exemplified that leadership is service to people.  Eighth Graders are given the opportunity to learn servant leadership through practice. 

Each Eighth Grader gains servant leadership by cleaning up the hallway after morning snack break, cleaning up the playground equipment after lunch recess, acolyting for Wednesday Chapel worship services and/or organizing and distributing the Middle School “Lost and Found” items. Being the oldest on the campus gives Eighth Graders the chance to be subtle positive role models for the younger students on campus by serving others.  What a wonderful way to show God’s love to others—being servant leaders!
