Nature Journaling

Middle school students have an opportunity to take part in a Nature Journaling Elective which allows them to notice the beauty and wonder of nature all around them. The students build the skills of a scientist, naturalist, artist and observer as they learn how to keep a nature journal. They get the chance to go outside, explore, and mindfully observe nature and look at it with curiosity. The students develop the motto “INIWIRMO” as they mentally observe and take notes using this acronym - “I Notice, I Wonder, It Reminds Me Of.” Their drawing skills naturally progress as they draw what they see, and they get to be creative with ways to illustrate and record their observations. As an extra bonus, the students create and 3D print their own planter. We love being outside and exploring God’s amazing creation!
