Native American Studies in 3rd Grade

1 min read

In social studies, my third graders have been reading about different Native American tribes. To help them remember what they learned, we did a group activity in class.

I split the class into small groups, and each group focused on one tribe. Together, they wrote and drew what their tribe ate, what kinds of homes they lived in, and what their environment was like. Some groups drew the homes their tribe built, while others labeled the foods and resources that came from the land around them.

When the groups finished, each one shared their work with the class. After everyone presented, we talked about the differences between the tribes and how the environment affected the way each tribe lived, from the food they ate to the homes they built.
