How Santa Got His Job

During the Christmas season, second grade got into the Christmas spirit by writing persuasive letters and applications to become one of Santa’s elves.  First, they read the story How Santa Got His Job to discover all the many wonderful qualities Santa has to complete his goals.  Then the students got to choose a department at the North Pole that they would like to work in. 

After some brainstorming, the students listed their qualities and skills they have for the department they chose, and gave reasons as to why they would be great for the job.  Whether they are using their creative talents in the Wrapping Department or their observational skills in the Security Department, the students enjoyed organizing and formalizing their persuasive letters using proper letter writing skills, as well as detailed thoughts to persuade Santa to hire them.  Finally, they finished their persuasive writing activity by creating themselves as an elf ready to report for duty at the North Pole!
