First Grade Thanksgiving Day Balloon Parade

As part of our Thanksgiving celebrations, 1st graders created their own Thanksgiving Macy’s Day Balloon Parade.  To begin,  the students read the story Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet, a biography about Tony Sarg, who invented the “upside down marionettes” in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. Then, the 1st graders designed their balloon floats on Seesaw.  Next, they came to the STEM lab where they chose paper to cut out their balloon pieces.  Once the students cut out their pieces, they went to Mrs. Grack for a balloon.  Last, the first graders glued their pieces onto the balloons using glue dots to create their finished floats.  After everyone was finished, the students paraded in front of the green screen to create their own video of a Thanksgiving Day Balloon Parade.
