Exploring Nature’s Classroom: 5th Grade Visits the Corona Del Mar Tide Pools

Our 5th-grade students had the exciting opportunity to step out of the classroom and into one of Southern California’s most fascinating natural environments—the tide pools at Corona Del Mar.

As part of our science curriculum on ecosystems and marine life, this hands-on field trip allowed students to explore the rich biodiversity of the intertidal zones. Students were able to observe and identify various marine species such as sea anemones, hermit crabs, mussels, and more.

Beyond science, the tide pools offered a chance for students to collaborate, ask questions, and make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and the real world. The fresh ocean air, sounds of waves, and scenic coastal views made for an unforgettable day.

We’re so grateful to our parent volunteers and chaperones for helping make this trip a success. Most of all, we’re proud of our students for their curiosity, care, and enthusiasm throughout the day.
