Award Winner Reading Club!

Students in Kindergarten and First Grade are given the opportunity to join a special reading club. The Kindergarteners can join the Caldecott Club by reading and writing the titles of 20 Caldecott Award winning books. Every year since 1938, up to 5 books are reviewed by a panel of judges for their illustrations and one book receives the gold medal while the others receive silver medals. In First Grade, a new Arch Books Club was started this year. The Arch books are a series of Bible stories, written in rhyming format, published by Concordia Publishing House, which also publishes the religious curriculum used at St. John’s. Each student that reads 20 Arch books and records the titles gets recognized for their reading achievement! These two special reading clubs are facilitated by the St. John’s School Library. Congratulations to the students that are part of the Caldecott Club and Arch Book club so far this school year! Thank you also to the parents to who take the time to read these books with their children!
