We are forever grateful to those who bless our children with their time and love to make awesome events happen at St. John's each year. If you see an event listed below that you are interested in being a part of, please contact us! Not only will you be a blessing to St. John’s, its students, faculty and families - you will earn PIP hours for your service. ALL EVENTS ARE A PIP HOUR OPPORTUNITY.

You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity.

2 Corinthians 9:11

Here at St. John’s Lutheran School, so many of the events and behind-the-scenes work is done by our Auxiliary members. Although the Auxiliary has an elected board of officers that oversees the working aspects of the organization, it would not be successful without the cooperation and participation of our Governing Board and the General Membership. Any parent of a child enrolled in St. John’s Lutheran School, preschool through eighth grade, is a member of the St. John’s Lutheran School Auxiliary.

Annual Gala & Auction

In 1992, the members of St. John's Auxiliary created the Gala & Auction to support St. John's Lutheran School and its students. This event is a very special evening to thank God for the blessing that is St. John's Lutheran School, as well as to celebrate YOU, our parents, supporters, teachers, faculty, and staff. Through Jesus Christ, we are forever linked in a desire to grow our school, our students, and our ability to serve St. John's and set the example for years to come. Click HERE for information.

Athletic Awards Night

SJLS recognizes the value of participation in athletic activities, not only for physical fitness, but in sportsmanship, team building and leadership development as well. It is the intent of St. John’s to provide this opportunity to students in 5th through 8th grade who meet and maintain eligibility based on academic, behavioral, and physical qualifications. Our Athletic Awards Night celebrates our student athletes and coaches and their accomplishments from the current school year. Contact Dave Stuewe

Author Visits

In order to create a rich, powerful connection between students and reading, Auxiliary sponsors author and illustrator visits. Besides being a fun break from the classroom routine, an author or illustrator visit introduces St. John’s students to the processes of writing, developing characters, and expressing one’s creativity; it gets readers excited about books; and it provides an opportunity to encourage young writers. Battle of the Books (BoB)

Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program that has been used in school nationwide for more than 70 years. St. John’s hosts a Battle of the Books competition for private elementary schools in Orange County. Throughout the year, students in 4th and 5th grade read and study from a list of 20 books selected by the librarian or teacher representative from each school. St. John’s teams will compete in February, while the final two teams will move on to compete in the final battle in March. Contact Deanna Barber

Breakfast with the Principal

Join our Principal, Dr. Jake Hollatz, for a wonderful morning of food, fellowship and great conversation in the Walker Hall Dining Room. Topics will include relevant information about St. John’s Lutheran School.  Contact Jodi Holte

Chapel Baptism

Once a year, St. John’s provides the opportunity for any student who hasn’t been baptized to experience the blessing of holy baptism during a special school chapel service. This is an incredibly meaningful morning for both the participant and the family, as well as the students and faculty watching. In the past, we have even had family members baptized alongside the student! Auxiliary provides a gift for each person baptized and hosts a reception afterward to celebrate. Contact Jen Stoehr

End-of-Year Luncheon

This is a wonderful luncheon to celebrate 8th grade parents and awesome graduating 8th graders. All SJLS parents (especially 8th grade parents) are encouraged to attend. This event is held in the Walker Hall Great Room. Selected 8th graders will perform, the newly elected Auxiliary Executive Board will be sworn in, and amazing memories will be shared. Contact Shana DiDodo

Expression Explosion is a fun evening event for the whole family. St. John’s opens it’s classroom doors in an awesome art show/open house for the students to show off all that they have been learning and doing in school.

Mother-Son Event

Calling ALL St. John’s Moms & Sons! "Bowling with the Boys" was introduced in 2017 as a fantastic way for moms to connect with their sons and have a great time. Moms and sons play as a TEAM (son bowls first ball, then mom to complete the set) against other mom-son teams in their grade level. Contact Emily Darger

National Lutheran Schools Week

National Lutheran Schools Week provides our network of nearly 2,300 LCMS preschools, elementary schools and high schools with the public opportunity to proclaim and celebrate God’s work among us in Lutheran schools. We thank God for the opportunity to provide excellent academic preparation for the children we serve. We are most grateful for the opportunity to share Jesus’ amazing love with children and their families. National Lutheran Schools Week gives us an opportunity to proclaim these great blessings within the communities we serve. Our schools are amazing incubators for faithful witness of God’s love for us through Christ by teachers and students alike.

Parent Meet & Greet

Held immediately after drop off on the first day of school in the Sanctuary Courtyard. Stop by for some coffee, a delicious pastry and the chance to catch up with other St. John’s Parents. Contact Shana DiDodo

Parent Orientation

Held during the first week of school, Parent Orientation is the best way to familiarize yourself with the St. John’s campus and gather important information from a general assembly held by the Principal, as well as individual class meetings run by our teachers. A folder will be handed out with useful information and contacts for many of the organizations within St. John’s, courtesy of the SJLS Auxiliary. Contact Jodi Holte

Red Ribbon Week

Since 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. The wearing and display of Red Ribbons symbolizes a commitment to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs in America. Red Ribbon Week mobilizes St. John’s student leaders to educate fellow students and encourage participation in drug prevention activities. Contact Molly Wolfe

Scholastic Book Fair

Every year in 75,000 schools across the country, Scholastic Book Fairs staffers work with parents, teachers, librarians, media specialists, and  principals to connect kids to high-quality books with school-based sales. Along with your own purchases, pick up a few items from your child’s teacher’s wish list — they’ll draw one up to let you know which Fair products would be perfect for their classroom. No matter your level of involvement, you’ll be helping to connect kids and books. There’s no better way to raise a reader. Contact Deanna Barber

School Assemblies

Auxiliary provides the best and brightest when it comes to school assemblies. Their potential to nurture a positive school ethos that stresses learning, care for the self and others, and the pursuit of all forms of excellence should not be underestimated. School assemblies, in all phases of schooling, can make a positive contribution to student self-development and therefore be at the heart of raising achievement and standards. Not to mention that they’re really fun! Contact Molly Wolfe

School Buddies Meet & Greet

Each new 1st-8th grade student at St. John’s is paired with a current student buddy. A couple of weeks before school starts, we host a fun gathering for all buddies and their families to get to know each other to ensure that all new students have at least one familiar face on the first day of school. Contact Leah Schmidt

Staff Luncheons

We are blessed with wonderful teachers and staff who graciously share their time and talents with our children daily. On the first day of school and the end of 1st-3rd quarter half days, we invite our teachers and staff to lunch in the dining room. It’s a great opportunity to serve them and encourage them to enjoy some downtime and fellowship with one another. Contact Emily Darger

To show our love and gratitude, we will be assembling over 50 bouquets to be handed out to our awesome support staff during chapel. Please bring flowers of any kind - home grown or store-bought, from a single flower to a whole bouquet - to the Sanctuary courtyard during drop off. Buckets will also be curbside on Shaffer for your convenience. PIP hours will be given to those who stay and help assemble bouquets. Contact Rosie Smart
