Dear School Families:
Grace and peace to you. Welcome to the new school year at St. John’s
Lutheran School!
I am personally so grateful and excited that you have chosen to
send your child to school here. We endeavor to do our best to prepare
students for their future education and for a life of love as children
of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The link between St. John’s Lutheran School and St. John’s
Lutheran Church is huge. This link makes us strong in so many ways.
It allows us to reach out to your family when you are hurting through
Christian Care. It enhances your growth in the Christian faith as
you participate in our Discipleship Ministries. Children’s
and Youth Ministry provide great opportunities to support you and
your children as they grow up in Jesus. Our link makes this a family
of believers.
Perhaps the most significant link for us is the link of worship.
Our faith is strengthened when we worship together weekly. In our
worship services, we experience the presence of God, hear His Word,
and gather together as brothers and sisters in Christ. It’s
that time together in worship that unites us and strengthens us
for our lives in the world.
My family is committed to weekly worship and Bible Study. Barb,
Justin and Sarah attend the 8:00 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary
and then attend a Bible Study or Sunday School. It’s a time
when our family is united in our faith and the lessons of the classroom
are reinforced through our journey of faith in Jesus Christ. One
of the most precious moments as a Pastor is serving my son and wife
the Lord’s Supper. We are all together in our faith and the
promises of our Lord.
If you are returning to St. John’s, my words of encouragement
are nothing new to you. I hope that you take an opportunity to join
us for weekly worship. For us who are members of the congregation,
this is a time that our family of believers is drawn together and
nourished by God’s Word and Sacraments. Please make a strong
commitment in your family to reinforce the lessons of the classroom
with weekly worship in the Sanctuary or Auditorium.
If you are new to St. John’s, I invite you to join us for
worship. It’s a joy for the children to see their teachers
and friends in worship. It reminds them, as well as you, that you
are connected to something that is much larger than a school --
a shared faith that conveys an eternal promise.
There are six services each weekend -- at different times, with
different formats, to meet your needs and to touch your life --
yet in all of our worship services you will hear the good news of
Jesus Christ and His love for you:
6:30 p.m. Saturday evening in the Sanctuary - traditional service
8:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the Sanctuary - traditional service
9:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the Sanctuary - blended worship service
9:30 a.m. Sunday morning in the Auditorium - our ‘e’
(evangelism) service
11:00 a.m. Sunday morning in the Sanctuary - blended service
6:30 p.m. Sunday evening in the Auditorium - family service
Services in the Sanctuary are led by the organ and choirs and services
in the Auditorium are led by the worship band. Each has a unique
feel, and each is focused on God’s love for you through Jesus
Christ and the relevance of that message for eternity and your life
right now.I look forward to seeing you. Regular worship is an important
component of Christian education.
If I can be of assistance to you in your spiritual life, please
let me know through e-mail (tklinkenberg@stjohnsorange.org)or a
phone call. If you are interested to know more about the Lutheran
Church and what we believe, teach and confess, I periodically teach
a class on Sunday evenings that would help you understand what your
children are taught in our school. You are invited to attend.
May God’s richest blessings be upon you!
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Timothy M. Klinkenberg
Senior Pastor
